It’s been a while since this author has provided any updated relating to my upcoming horror novel, Silent Hill Obversion. It’s been so long since I wrote any thriller content. I must admit, the last few weeks have been really busy. Here’s why.

New Writing Work

About two months ago, I was appointed as a writer for a major online corporation. This company hires writers, such as myself, to write articles for huge online sites. Since this is something I’m used to doing for my own websites, such as my blog, my publishing company, and game news site AIR Entertainment, I felt this was something I could easily do.

This was about the same time that I announced that my author hiatus was over and that my writing on Silent Hill Obversion horror novel had continued. It was also right after I dropped the selling price for my first horror novel, Silent Hill Betrayal. I also started picking up the pace on my game reviews.

Writing for the company has taught me so many things. It’s also been keeping me very busy with writing. So much so, that I neither had time or energy to focus on Silent Hill Obversion. The first few weeks were a steep learning curve. Yet, I must have done something right, as I was promoted to one of the top teams in the company within two weeks.

What does this mean for my Silent Hill books?

Silent Hill Obversion | Horror novel | Survival Horror Book

You must be wondering, if I am spending so much time and energy on my new writing career and writing game reviews, where will I find time to write my Silent Hill Obversion horror novel. Don’t worry, I asked myself that too. It’s been quite a hectic two months, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it.

It’s all about time management. I’m learning how to cut down the time I spend on each article and starting to allocate time slots for each of my writing projects. All I ask is that you bear with me; my second Silent Hill horror novel will continue. I am working on Silent Hill Obversion as much as I can.

With the amount of words I’ve been able to churn out for the new company, I’ve learnt what I’m capable of. Now, if I can use the same approach for my Silent Hill novel, I will actually be able to get it out sooner that I anticipated. Even though, I had planned on publishing the survival horror novel last year on Halloween.

New Silent Hill Writing Schedule

Silent Hill Obversion | Horror novel | Survival Horror Book

As I turn 40 this coming Sunday, time is becoming more precious to me. I’ve planned seven Silent Hill horror books for the series, with only Silent Hill Betrayal published and still working on Silent Hill Obversion. It means, should I complete one Silent Hill survival horror book every year, I’ll be finished when I am 44.

That might not sound so bad to you, but there are still other novels I want to author. I have a full list of concepts and ideas I want to write books for. And right now, it feels like I am getting nowhere slowly.

As far as my upcoming survival horror novel is concerned, my plan is to continue writing on weekends where I can. My week days are fully committed to my new writing career, so the only gap I can find is on weekends at the moment. If I find time anywhere else between family and my game reviews on AIR Entertainment, I’ll be sure to fit it in.

Good day readers

As I like to do, I like to create images and videos while working on my novels, more specifically with my Silent Hill series. I’ve taken some free copyright free images and music that very much symbolises the theme of Silent Hill: Obversion, and put together this neat little video. I’m sorry for the watermark though, I will be research free movie creators to prevent this in the future.

So feel free to visit my Patreon page where I will be sharing these type of goodies in the future. It’s kind of nice to have a separate page for sketches, notes and videos, and leaving my blog for talking about my projects and writing experiences. I wasn’t a fan of patreon at first when I heard about it a few months ago, but now that I’ve actually given it a go (being encouraged by American McGee to do so), I must say that I have been won over and really love this platform.

Don’t worry, I am not giving up my official blog. I love it too much, and there’s only so much Patreon can actually do. But expect my Sneak Peeks to be going on Patreon this time, instead of randomly on my social platforms where it gets lost for all time.

Also, I have some Silent Hill: Betrayal merchandise coming up on the upcoming Celenic Earth Publications merchandise page, so expect to hear more news on that soon.

Warm Regards

Two days ago, I hinted on Facebook that an Award winning artist will be bringing creatures from my Silent Hill: Betrayal novel to life in 3D graphical art. It might be the first time I am mentioning it, but it no way is this a new development. The artist and I have discussed this about two months ago initially and the work has steadily been progressing.

Today I am happy to officially announce that this artist is Shane Ryan from Graphicx Horror! . He is definitely not new to the horror scene and has spent years cultivating his love for the genre and allowing his talent to grow to great heights! I was fortunate enough to spot some Silent Hill designs on facebook, as well as some new designs he is working on, which then prompted me to ask if he would be willing to try his hand at a bestiary for my novel.

Right now, Shane is busy with Act 1’s bestiary. He is working on the Adlet and Tiyanak first, and I have already seen some concept designs and the progress of the 3D work. I am intensely, insanely excited about this artwork and I really believe Shane is outdoing himself.

You can visit his website to learn more about him in detail, but here is a very short summary (doesn’t do him justice; more are listed on the site) of what he has accomplished so far:

  • Artwork that has appeared is many publications, such as Body Horror Book, I’m Zombie, Decay, and the Refuge Collection;
  • Film Productions, such as Detour Theatre, Virus of the Dead, and Dark are the Woods;
  • Cover art for the Music Industry, such as God Of Horrorcore and Greatest Horrorz Vol.1;
  • Award: Guild Of The Golden Owl, juried Fantasy Art competition (judges award);
  • Exhibitions, such as Oz Horror Con, Benalla Regional Arts Exhibition and Step Into My World Exhibition;
  • Featured Artist in various publications and interviews, like the Blood-Shed, Horror Addicts, and Domain of Horror.

As I mentioned I am truly excited to see my work come to life, and I cannot wait to make it available to everyone to see.

Warm Regards

When I released a more detailed synopsis for my supernatural survival horror novel, ‘Silent Hill: Betrayal, I knew that there would be many who would be aching to read it, but not this much. In several discussions on Silent Hill forums, facebook pages and communities, my backpage teaser wasn’t enough to tantalise the senses. The small discussions revealed snippets of the book that I was comfortable relating, without giving too much away. Unfortunately, this led to more questions.

I believe releasing this detailed synopsis at this time was the right call. It has sparked even further discussion, and in some areas praise for what I have managed to accomplish with the Silent Hill name. A few gaming developers have mentioned how much the novel reads like a game, and teased that if the book doesn’t get adapted into a Silent Hill game, perhaps all the Silent Hill relevant info can be changed to be made into a different survival horror game. As excited as I am by this prospect, I want to hold off until I can either convince Konami that it should be the next SH game, or a developer makes it a SH game to present to Konami as a proposal.

I won’t hold off too long though…

The press release has been the top news every day for the last three days now, and has hot second place in the week’s top news. While I have typed this post, the views have moved from 154 to 168, so I am sure it will hit the top monthly and weekly news before this weekend begins. I guess I should finish off ‘Dream Whispers’ as quickly as possible so that I can get to the sequel sooner than planned.

For those of you, who have not seen the detailed synopsis or press release, here is the link: https://www.prlog.org/12615319

Thank you once again for the support, and I hope you are all enjoying your journey through my Silent Hill novel.

Hot on the tail of the paperback release of ‘Silent Hill: Betrayal’ on Amazon, the two successful editions of  this novel will soon be released. I am receiving the draft paperback copies within this week to approve, so I am looking towards the end of January for its launch here in South Africa.

Following its launch I will endeavour to start distribution discussions with Takealot and Loot. However, South Africans will have the option for purchasing it for less directly from me through EFT or PayPal. If you are looking to preorder the paperback before its release, email for EFT, PayPal or credit card payment options at celenicearth@gmail.com, or contact me on my Facebook page or Twitter.

In my adventures in meeting new Silent Hill fans and friends, I have come across many who have said they would love to buy Silent Hill: Betrayal {SHB} on Amazon, but they don’t have a Kindle. While some have actually gone out of their way to buy a Kindle just to read this novel (thank you so much for the support!), it is not necessary to go to such measures if you are unable to.

When you purchase SHB on Amazon, there are other ways you can access it. One, if you are registered on Amazon, even for free, you can read the book with their online reader. Two, if you download the free Amazon Kindle app for any device, once you purchase SHB it will become available on that device immediately (I have a library of Amazon kindle books on my phone through this method). Three, you can buy the epub / MOBI / Kindle ebook from me directly, and then also read it on any device. I am sure there are many other online cloud readers that could also assist.

So, you see, you don’t need to have a Kindle to purchase the novel. There are so many other options. Where there is a will, there is a way:

I hope to receive some positive feedback on the novel soon and, if I do, I will surely share it with all of you.

After my first interview with My Silent Hill, there was a stir among Silent Hill fans across the world about the upcoming novel and what it meant for the franchise. This is especially true following the fall of Silent Hills game that was cancelled.

A journalist in Turkey noticed the exchange happening between the fans, having been part of a Silent Hill Community in Turkey. He kindly requested to collate queries about the upcoming novel with the Community and then phrase them to me in an interview. I accepted, and then the interview was done.

You are now able to view the interview on Tansel Altinel’s Blog. The interview will soon be translated into the local Turkey language, but it is also available in English for everyone else. I believe this interview to be an essential Preface to my novel, so that fans can know what to expect, and what not to expect.

SHB COVERS….. SO FAR

As you may be aware, I will be presenting several concept covers that I am developing for the upcoming novel. Once the covers are ready, I will be raising a voting poll to see which one is favoured the most. So far the covers are thus:

As I develop more covers while I edit the final version of the novel, I will be sure to let you know. Please remember to PREORDER your copy of the ebook novel so that you can start reading on 31 October 2016 when it is LAUNCHED.

That day has finally arrived! My debut Silent Hill novel is done in terms of writing. It has been one hell of a journey (pun intended), but I have finally reached the point where the novel has been concluded.

Now I enter the arduous task of editing.  This means going through everything with a fine tooth comb, and not just in terms of grammar and spelling. I need to make sure there is consistency, firstly throughout my plot and sub-plots, and then with the future novels in this series. It can be very time-consuming, but necessary for the quality of the final product.

As you can see by the image on this post, I have designed the first concept design for the cover. While I am editing, I will be designing four other mock-up covers, followed by a poll on social media as to which one is preferred. The voted winning cover will be the one chosen to be published.

I have applied to Amazon to start the pre-ordering of the e-book version of the novel, for which I already have an ISBN. When the pre-orders are available, I will let you know with a link to the site.

As for printed versions, at this stage I want to first focus on the e-book version of the novels before I establish a launch for the print versions. Expect press releases to hit worldwide on the release of the e-book while I prepare the print copies.

I will update you further as time goes by. Expected release date of the e-book: 31 October 2016.

Since I’m a month ahead of schedule, I decided to take a week off to spend with my family during my wife and my anniversary. That six years can go so quickly…

And now that I’m back on with Silent Hill, it’s so sad to be reaching the end of an epic writing journey. It’s the final showdown now. Everything has led to this.

And then the tedious editing begins. This of course will be necessary to ensure consistency throughout the story and add / alter descriptions where necessary.

I’ve had some feedback from one of my alpha readers on Act 1 that I would like to share here:

‘I love your version of Silent Hill, the little twists and build up, I almost expect to see some horrific creature around every corner.  One word, STUPENDOUS’

On a side-note, I’m working with an internationally recognised film production company here in South Africa, doing some screenwriting for some project ideas we have. I can’t share more than that right now, but keep a look out for mentions on social media until I can make the official announcement.

Another film company have asked if they can adapt the Celenic Earth Chronicles to film, but these discussions are still to early to promise anything right now.

Finally, expect the Amazon pre-order of the Silent Hill ebook to become available early early October. I will be sure to announce it when the time comes.
